Terrorism

Terrorism is defined as "The unlawful use or threatened use of force or violence by a person or an organized group against people or property with the intention of intimidating or coercing societies or governments, often for ideological or political reasons". The recent spate of terrorist attacks on different parts of the country point to the intention of this problem creators to damage the secular fabric of the country. The Attack is extremely despicable and highly deplorable. The reasons whatever they give cannot be justified because it is only innocent people who loss their lives. What is though important is for the government that how come day by day more people are getting brainwashed and creating problems. Economic and social apartheid are some of the major reasons which leads to disillusion and disenchantment and thus eventually these are the people who are vulnerable to all these brainwashing. It is high time that all parties across the political spectrum realize this and form a common strategy to weed out terrorism in this country from its roots.Any special Anti terror act wont do any good because it just would be a medicine giving temporary relief but having far more side effects. The implementation of POTA did not decrease terrorism by any count. It was in fact misused in many cases as detailed by civil right activists like Harsh Mander and Teesta Setalvaad. We have to look at other options before things go out of control.

Review:Jannat

Yesterday for the first time in my life i watched a movie of vishesh films in a hall, and well that was courtesy narendra, thanx narendra for the treat.Anyways i went with extremely low expectations from the movie but well the movie was better than what i had expected. The story was a kitsch of many sub plots wherein match fixing and the bob woolmer murder case was also thrown in.But the main plot revolved around the love story of Emraan hashmi and the new comer Sonal Chauhan. For a change Emraan acted pretty well as the guy whose ambivalence with morality leads him to the road of perdition. He is frustrated with his middle class lifestyle and with his uncanny sixth sense manages to earn lots of bucks and thus also win the heart of his lady love sonal chouhan. As far as sonal chouhan is considered her acting seemed to be pretty average as she did not have much to do except giggle and weep. Her dialogue delivery was pathetic as can be seen when she sees the hero being shot. Some of the dialogues were pretty innovative and witty. The music as expected was pretty good. That was what i think the biggest highlight of the movie. If anyone wants to watch it then they can certainly watch it at home as i am not too sure whether it is worth 150 bucks.

An act of cowardice

The recent blasts in Jaipur were shocking to say the least. The justification for the killing of scores of innocent people was illogical and reprehensible. No scripture ,which so ever justifies the killing of innocent people. The root cause of all this evil is the brainwashing sessions by mercenaries of terror.the raison d'etre which they give is that Muslims are being treated as second class citizens in India. This is absolute crap.It is true that some people have a jaundiced view of Muslims and Muslims are treated unfairly(classic case Gujarat) but well this happens throughout the world. The fact remains that minorities in India are far well treated as compared to so called Islamic states like Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. The way ahmadies are treated in Pakistan is no secret.Even the parliament also conspired against them. The less i say of regressive states like Saudi Arabia the better it is.It is high time that this people realise that the secular fabric of India cannot be damaged that easily.Indians are known for their resilience and broad mindedness and i am very sure that the nefarious and diabolical designs of this people would be thwarted.

Bollywood

The other day i was reading The Economic Times where i found an interesting article(for a change).Well it wasnt remotely associated with economics and that made it interesting. It was about a movie directed by Ranjeet(one of the famous bollywood baddies).Well the story was unique and it could be made only in bollywood.Inspite of having an ensemble of good actors the protagonist was a horse.Well the story had reached the heights of incredulity that i started wondering how could he have come up with such an incredulous idea and on the top of that how did he manage to convince people to be a part of this movie.Well i guess that afterall in bollywood anything is possible. The name of the movie was Karnama.I haven't watched the movie but i expect to watch it at my friends place in may,if ever the plan is successful.

The Kite Runner

I had finished off the kite runner a few weeks back and to be honest i was impressed with the book. The plot may not be a great one , in fact it was pretty ordinary but the way it was written made an ordinary book into an extraordinary one.One can correlate with the writer and feel the pain, trauma, helplessness and happiness of all the characters in the book.So i wasn't surprised when i heard people singing paeans about it.The barbaric nature of the Taliban and the hypocrisy present in the Afghan society has been described very vividly..Even though the dialogue "for you a thousands time over" was repeated in the book but it never seemed to be cliched.infact it was used pretty beautifully. The ending was open ended and it gave enough food for thought. It also justified the Title."Tashkor " khalid agha for writing such a wonderful book.

Review of the movie Jodha Akbar

It needs a stroke of genius to convert a much anticipated movie n a good story into a non watchable stuff. That is what exactly Ashutosh Gowariker has achieved through his latest movie Jodha Akbar.
I have no problems with the length of the movie if only the movie could have been a bit gripping. The screenplay was pretty banal. At times it seemed that some scenes were inspired from sooraj barjatya's movies. The biggest disappointment were the action scenes. There were hardly any,and whatever were there were pretty ordinary except maybe the one in which aishwarya rai was learning sword fighting. As far as the portrayal of Akbar is concerned the less said about it the better it is.The kind of scope which gowariker had could have made out a modern hero out of him the way hollywood movies make out of their emperors. The language used both hindi and urdu were difficult to comprehend, but the director can be forgiven for that as he wanted to present a more real picture. The music was also pretty average as per Rehman standards.Maybe he was not given enough scope. But the song azeemoshan was really good and the choreography of that song was also a highlight of the movie.Overall it was a big disappointment from a movie director of the calibre of gowariker who has given movies like lagaan and swades.Watch it at your own risk!!!!
